The Backstory

Marilyn Felt, playwright, had a musician son Josh Clayton-Felt and she wrote this play loosely based on his life story.

Lightsong, outside the realm of the ancients (though in Ireland Josh did befriend a crow named Fernando), draws on real events and real places.

Josh in reality did live his life in music, starting at the age of seven on piano. Melodies of his, written when he was eight were used as background in documentary films. His dozens of notebooks are crammed with musical ideas and lyrics. The School of Fish was a real band founded by Josh and Michael Ward. Their song 3 Strange Days was one of the big hits of the 90's. After leaving the band, Josh created four solo albums. Much of this is sampled in Lightsong.
